Do you love miracles, signs and wonders? Many Christians are brought to God through signs and wonders. Jesus walked on water, healed the lepers, and fed a multitude of followers from a few loaves of bread.
But what is it that you love?
Do you love God because of the signs and wonders? If God wanted to awe and convince the world with signs and wonders, He would have done that a long time ago. Today you see many ministries encouraging men to come to witness the signs and wonders, and to solve their self inflicted afflictions.
What is it that you love?
Signs and wonders, rituals and traditions are performed across all religions. The love for signs and wonders, rituals and traditions have a way to mutate into witchcraft, sorcery and idolatry. A paradox by design – whilst Jesus performed Signs and Wonders, he did not want us to fall in love with Signs and Wonders. Yet there are many who advertise Signs and Wonders to increase their revenue generation.
What is it that you love?
Many years ago, I attended a man made ”church” organization and they distributed wine and pieces of bread and proclaimed, this is the flesh of Jesus and the Blood of Jesus. One of them brought up a scientific journal that proves how the consumed wine and bread physically transmutes into blood and flesh.
What is it that you love?
If you believe through Signs and Wonders, is faith a requirement? If you participate in the crossing of the parted Red Sea, with your own eyes and ears you see the miracle of God. Is faith still a requirement? It is a paradox by design, now used as an instrument to rectify the New Man’s value system in asking “What do you love?”.
Signs and Wonders are so tempting during the end days that Jesus gave us a direct warning.
Matt 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and they will provide great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect (God’s chosen ones).
We have to sharpen our spiritual senses to the point of understanding the good and evil of Signs and Wonders lest we be deceived by the signs performed by the second beast mentioned in Revelations 13:13.
Rev 13:13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
There is a temporal purpose to Signs and Wonders. There is a temporal purpose to symbols. There is a temporal purpose to the Law of the Old testatment. All with a temporal purpose to teach us the Eternal Jesus!
Jesus did not randomly say “See that you tell no one” (Matt 8:4) whilst illustrating His miraculous act. The paradoxical instrument was meant to clean up the garments of His Church. When I was very young, I often seen my grandmother use a washboard to clean our garments. The garments were soaked in hot soapy water, then squeezed and rubbed against the ridged surface of the washboard to force the cleansing fluid through the cloth to carry away dirt. The ridged surface of the washboard seemed like a paradoxical instrument to me back then, wouldn’t it tear the garments if you squeeze it too hard? Clearly, you need a skilled washer to perform this task. Praise God for the Holy Spirit to all those who accepted Christ.
When Moses went up the mountain to receive the Law, it was through a supernatural event. But the supernatural event was not meant to be sanctified and loved. It has served its temporary purpose of that time. At the same time, the Law has served its purpose the moment Jesus declared “It is Finished!”, Receive the Holy Spirit by faith!
Galatians 3:23 Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
”Coming of this faith” has abolished the Law. Before the coming of this faith, The Law was required.
Having said that, Paul’s letter to the Ephesians says that faith must go together with righteousness (Ability to discern good and evil), Truth and Peace.
Eph 6:10-18 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
I have often seen men trading in the temple of God, selling spiritual repositories through videos and books, and making a prayer to gain monetary profit through Faith. You have misplaced your faith! What do you love???
1John 2:15 Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world. The world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever.
